What is the Adobe Creative Cloud Pro license?

The Adobe Creative Cloud Pro license provides access to a comprehensive suite of Adobe applications and tools, including programs like Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Adobe Fonts. It is distinct from but inclusive of the functionality provided by Adobe Acrobat Pro and Adobe Express licenses; these products are included in the comprehensive Creative Cloud Pro license.

How much does an Adobe Creative Cloud Pro license cost and how do I pay?

The license requires an annual fee of $120 (for FY26) that is assessed once per year.

How is the Adobe Creative Cloud Pro license different from Adobe Acrobat Pro or Adobe Express?
  • Adobe Acrobat Professional - A document creation and management software primarily used for advanced PDF editing, redaction, PDF combination, or exporting PDFs from other applications such as Google Documents or Microsoft Word and Powerpoint.

  • Adobe Express (formerly known as Adobe Creative Cloud Express and Adobe Spark) - A cloud-based, all-in-one design platform for creating graphics, videos, web pages, and simple PDF documents, aimed towards quick and easy content creation with a suite of powerful tools.

  • Adobe Creative Cloud Pro - A broad suite of professional-grade creative software applications for design, multimedia production, web development; typically used for advanced creative work.

Who manages the Adobe product licenses at the University of Notre Dame?

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) centrally manages the license procurement and assignment for the enterprise.

Who is eligible for an Adobe Creative Cloud Professional license through the university’s enterprise agreement?
  • Faculty and Staff: All current, active faculty and staff (full-time, part-time, temp/on-call, and approved university affiliates) with a primary academic, research, or administrative role directly supporting the University’s mission are eligible.
  • Faculty Emeriti: Eligibility determined by departmental approval and funding.
  • Students: Students have access to the Adobe Creative Cloud applications in designated computer labs and computer classrooms. Departmental requests for student interns and employees will be reviewed for eligibility.
What happened to retirees' access to Adobe Creative Cloud Pro?

Effective October 1, 2025, retirees' no longer have access to Creative Cloud Pro through Notre Dame's enterprise license and can purchase a discounted educational license from Adobe.

Can I use my Adobe Creative Cloud Professional license for personal projects or hobbies?

Individual, named-user licenses are provided for academic, research, and/or administrative purposes directly related to your professional responsibilities at the University of Notre Dame.

Can I share my Adobe Creative Cloud Professional license with colleagues or students?

Adobe Creative Cloud Professional licenses are named-user licenses. This means that they must only be used by the individual who has requested and been assigned a license. Sharing license credentials or installing software on unauthorized devices is a violation of the terms of use and is prohibited.

Is my data stored in the Adobe Cloud Storage system managed by the Office of Information Technology?

No. User storage in the Adobe Cloud Storage system is the responsibility of the user. This storage is managed by Adobe. You are strongly encouraged NOT to rely solely on the Adobe Cloud Storage service and to regularly create backups of your data. See the Adobe Cloud Data Backup and Migration Guide for details.

What happens to my Adobe Cloud Storage data if I leave the university?

Please refer to the Guidelines for the Disposition of Orphaned Data for information about account data in the event of university separation.

What if I am a current faculty or staff user of a university Adobe license and do not request access to any of the Adobe products?

Current faculty and staff remain eligible for Adobe products. Adobe licenses are managed by the Office of Information Technologies (OIT), so your eligibility will continue as long as:

  • Your employment status remains active

  • Notre Dame maintains its Adobe licensing agreement

  • You are within the scope of eligible users covered by the institutional license.
